  • Large Hadron Collider, Black Holes, and Dark Matter

In case you've been living in a hole the last month or so and haven't heard of LHC, allow me to take the next paragraph to offer a simple explanation of it and the problem people are having with it.  In the case that you have heard of it, you can most likely pass over the next paragraph and continue to my thoughts.

The LHC, or Large Hadron Collider, is a giant device, underneath at least two European countries.  What it does is it shoots particles around a long track with the intention of at some point in time running them into each other.  The first major collision isn't scheduled until October 21st.  The intention of this is to find an elementary particle of mass known by two names, either "Higgs Particle" or, the much more interesting name, "God's Particle."  Now, scientists have said that, in doing this, there is a 10% chance of creating a black hole.  They have also calculated that even if a black hole came into being, it would be insubstancially small and could not remain self-sustaining(i.e. it would dissapear seconds after being created).

There is a crittical problem with this.  In case you arn't aware, not even the greatest scientists in the world at this point have any understanding at all of black holes or dark matter.  Ever since black holes and dark matter were found, scientists have been attempting to quantify and measure it, but all without any luck at all.  No one has even the slightest hypothesis as to where black holes come from, nor do they have any way to calculate anything about them.

The problem?  This means two very troubling things.  First of all, it means that both the 10% and teh fact that it wouldn't be self sustaining were false statements.  Lies, if you will.  Lies to keep the public calm.  Second, it means that there could, in fact, be a much greater chance of there being a black hole and that it would in fact be self sustaining.

If this is the case, you have about one month.  Live well.

Beyond that, dark matter is a very interesting topic.  In part, it is the unquantifiable uncertianty about it.  In part, it's just the name.

What are your thoughts on dark matter?  Do you think that there will ever come a day when scientists can quantify, calculate, or at least have an understanding of it?

  • Herald 1: Who I am and what I do

In any given series of discussions, thoughts, weblogs, or other such scenario in which much information will be given over time on a similar or indeed the same subject, it is only natural to first acquire a general understanding of who it is that is giving the information and what, in fact, the information is about.

Therefore, I hold my introduction of myself as an essential first step in this process.

I am the Herald of Ragnarok.  This meaning should, in fact, be clear, however, in the case that it is not, allow me to explain it further.  Ragnarok is an event from the ancient Norse mythologies.  You see, in fact, they are the only ones who got it entirely correct whilst still being false in their perceptions.  However, I'm not explaining quite that far yet.  The myth tells of the doom of the gods and the destruction of the world as it is.

My purpose is to warn the world of this and what exactly it means.  Because, in truth, though you do not yet see it, the world as it is today will not survive.  The system which runs it must and will be inevitably destroyed as it is far too much corrupted from the original purpose with which it was created.  Yet to end this world without giving it's people a fair opportunity to know and to adapt accordingly would be...disastrous for them.

To begin with, it must be established several things.

First, I know that I am a hypocrite.  I have seen the vileness within me and I realize just how far darkness will pursue a soul that is around it as much as mine is, even if my intent is to vanquish it.  Still, telling me that I will suffer what I warn the world of will be telling me nothing.

Next, I will give information in my time and not a moment sooner.  It cannot be begged, coaxed, bribed, bought, or otherwise acquired from me.

And lastly, my information is truthful.  What I can support with logic, I support with logic.  What cannot be supported in such a fashion must be accepted from my first hand knowledge and experience.

Myself:

  • This world is my nemesis, and I serve the necessary purpose of being her villain. Bearing the message of devastation, I bring truth to a universe reliant upon lies and destruction. The crutch upon which this vile place stands will be kicked out by me. And if in spreading the truth, one person manages to hear me and take my message, then I have succeeded.
